WOMEN'S TOP 25 Sunday's games

No. 3 LSU 66, Kentucky 36
LEXINGTON, Ky. -- LSU coach Pokey Chatman had just learned that her Tigers had held Kentucky to its lowest point total ever, and she had one reaction. "I better not tell them," Chatman said. "They might think they're good." Too late, coach. It's already evident. Seimone Augustus scored 23 points as No. 3 LSU earned its second straight road win over an unbeaten opponent. The Tigers beat Ohio State last week. In 32 seasons of women's basketball, Kentucky's previous scoring low was 38 points, on two occasions -- against Tennessee on Jan. 21, 2001, and against Cincinnati on Dec. 22, 2000. "They proved why they're the No. 3 team in the country," Kentucky coach Mickie DeMoss said. "They looked like the No. 1 team in the country." LSU (7-0, 1-0 Southeastern Conference) held an opponent to 41 points or less for the third time this season. Kentucky (8-1, 0-1) was off to its best start since the 1980-81 season and the Wildcats entered with hopes of an upset over a Louisiana State team that reached last season's Final Four. Kentucky drew 5,930 fans for the game, selling out Memorial Coliseum for the first time this season. But LSU dominated inside with the 6-foot-1 Augustus, NCAA Division I's active scoring leader with 2,059 points, and 6-foot-6 Sylvia Fowles, who had seven points and 12 rebounds. Led by Augustus' 11-for-20 effort, the Tigers shot 50 percent from the field and scored 29 points off 20 Kentucky turnovers.
No. 13 Notre Dame 68, No. 22 Utah 55
LAS VEGAS -- Melissa D'Amico scored 13 points and Lindsay Schrader had 10 points and 10 rebounds for Notre Dame in the Gray Division title game in the Duel in the Desert. D'Amico, the tournament MVP, was 4-for-5 from the field and had rebounds for the Irish (8-1). Kim Smith led Utah (7-2) with 18 points.
No. 19 Texas 69, North Texas 49
AUSTIN, Texas -- Tiffany Jackson had 27 points and 16 rebounds for Texas. Jackson was 9-of-17 from the field, 9-of-11 from the line and also had four blocked shots and five steals for the Longhorns (5-3). Didi Wali and Sanetra Jackson each scored eight points for North Texas (7-2).
No. 23. N.C. State 80, Arkansas St. 59
LAS VEGAS -- Billie McDowell had 17 points and nine assists for North Carolina State in the Gray Division third-place game in the Duel in the Desert tournament. Khadijan Whittington had 19 rebounds and 13 points, and Gillian Goring and Tiffany Stansbury had 14 points each for the Wolfpack (7-3). Adrianne Davie led the Lady Indians (5-5) with 18 points and 10 rebounds.
