Volunteers sought for care program

SHARON, Pa. -- Volunteers are being sought for Sharon Regional Health System's Hospice and Palliative Care Program.
The volunteers are needed to work in bereavement support, office work and other special projects. A training program starts Jan. 10 and continues every Tuesday for six weeks at Hermitage HealthPLACE, 2360 Highland Road, Hermitage, Pa.
The program assists patients with a limited life expectancy of six months or less and their families so patients can remain in their homes. Hospice needs volunteers to serve in all areas of Mercer County and northern Lawrence County.
Volunteers can provide patients with company, run errands or become a friend and good listener to a patient's caregiver. Bereavement volunteers work with families after death. Office volunteers do mailings and other work. Those interested should call (724) 983-3878 or toll-free at (866) 852-3960.
