Neffs to observe 65th anniversary on Wednesday
XDELRAY BEACH, Fla. -- Mr. and Mrs. Robert Neff, 1070 S.W. 20th Terrace, formerly of Canfield, will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary Wednesday at their residence.
They were married Dec. 21, 1940, in Toronto, Ohio.
Hosts for the observance will be their daughters, Jennifer Neff of Canfield, Holly Broom of Edwardsville, Ill., and Candace Neff of Lantana, Fla. There are seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren in the family.
After graduation from Ohio State University, Mrs. Neff, the former Maxine Dwiggins, was a teacher in Adena and Mr. Neff was a territorial sales manager for the Sheaffer Pen Co. of Fort Madison, Iowa.
In 1942 Mr. Neff began a four-year tour of duty as an officer with the U.S. Navy and the couple moved to Norfolk, Va., then to Sampson, N.Y.
After the war the couple returned to Canfield where they incorporated the Neff Land Co. and developed 14 streets and 1,904 acres of land. They were members of Canfield United Methodist Church and Salem Golf Club.
Mrs. Neff belonged to the Delta Zeta Alumnae and Sleepy Hollow and Periwinkle garden clubs. She was a Girl Scout leader and a member of Gyros.
Mr. Neff was an Eagle Scout and served on the board of the Camp Fire Girls. He was the grand marshal for Canfield on July 4, 1999, and won the Florida state shuffleboard championship at the age of 80. He was a member of the War Veterans Museum, Canfield Historic Society, the American Legion, Rotary, Elks and Gyros.
