YOUNGSTOWN -- Three people were arrested after a Saturday morning robbery at Fast Fuel, 4050 Youngstown-Poland Road. Charged are: Kendall Johnson, 38, of Midlothian Boulevard, aggravated robbery, obstruction of official business and failure to appear on another charge; Dawshawn L. Hayden, 29, of Fifth Avenue, receiving stolen property and failure to comply with a police order; and Melissa Klemm, 29 of East Delason Avenue, resisting arrest and obstruction of justice.
Police said Hayden drove a stolen vehicle while Johnson demanded money. Both men got out of the car on East Delason. After a search, police killed one of Klemm's charging pit bulls before Johnson surrendered and Hayden was captured. Police found $398 in Johnson's socks.
Designated-driver plan
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Neshannock Township Police and Dunkin' Donuts have teamed up to promote designated driving over the holiday season. Neshannock Police officers will give out coupons for a free cup of coffee and two doughnuts at the New Castle or Neshannock store if a vehicle is stopped for a traffic violation and the operator is found to be the sober designated driver for one or more intoxicated passengers.
Christmas tree disposal
NORTH LIMA -- Beaver Township will provide a new service to area residents this holiday season. The township will allow residents to dispose of their Christmas trees at the township recycling center after the holiday. The recycling center is behind the township safety building on South Range Road. Hours are 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays. At a recent meeting, the township trustees authorized the recycling department to rent a shredder to help with disposing of the trees. Septic-system workshop
CORTLAND -- The Trumbull County General Health District will have a workshop called "Caring For Your Septic System" for Trumbull County homeowners from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Trumbull County Agriculture and Family Education Center, 520 W. Main St. The workshop will educate homeowners on proper septic system maintenance and offer advice on how to avoid problems. The workshop will include a presentation and a question-and-answer period.
