Zips at Motor City Bowl
AKRON -- University of Akron alumni and members of the general public can buy a one-day travel package to see the Zips play the Memphis Tigers in the Motor City Bowl on Dec. 26. The package includes a ticket, round-trip bus transportation and pregame party. The cost is $75. Tours at Hower House
AKRON -- The University of Akron's Hower House, 60 Fir Hill, is decorated for the holidays and will be open for tours Friday, Dec. 28, 29 and 30 from noon until 3:30 p.m., with the last tour beginning at 3 p.m. Groups of 10 or more are welcomed for specially arranged tours. Hower House is a preserved 1871 Italianate-style, 28-room mansion that is operated as a museum, featuring furnishings collected from around the world by the John Henry Hower family. It was given to the university in 1970 and is listed on the National Register for Historic Places. Artwork is sold in its Cellar Door gift shop. For information, call (330) 972-6909.
