GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Midwestern Intermediate Unit IV, which provides educational services to public schools in Mercer, Lawrence and Butler counties, is offering a three-day training program for emergency day-to-day substitute teachers.
The program, at the unit's office at 453 Maple St., will increase the number of available substitute teachers in the area.
Candidates for the training, which will lead to a substitute permit, must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and complete a registration form that is available by contacting the unit's continuing education department at (724) 458-6700, Ext. 286, or visit the unit's Web site at www.miu4.k12.pa.us.
The class will run from 9 a.m. to noon Jan. 6 and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Jan. 9 and 10. Lunch will be provided on the latter two days. The cost is $75 for those with a bachelor's degree in a field other than education and have no prior teaching experience and $25 for those with a degree in education with prior teaching experience. Registration must be done by Jan. 3.
The Pennsylvania Department of Education endorses the program.
