Vandals shoot out windows in 3 cars

YOUNGSTOWN -- Vandals apparently used BB guns to shoot out windows in three vehicles at separate locations on the South Side within 10 minutes Thursday afternoon, police reports say.
The driver's side window of a car traveling south on Southern Boulevard near East Florida Avenue was shattered at 4:15 p.m., and the front passenger window of a car traveling east on Indianola Avenue was broken six minutes later.
The rear driver's side window of a third car traveling south on Glenwood Avenue was shot out at 4:24 p.m.
The married couple traveling in the second vehicle said they did not see people walking nearby, but that about five cars had passed them. The damage to each vehicle appeared to be caused by a BB gun or pellet rifle, reports say.
Earlier in the afternoon, a bus driver parked on Market Street told police he was waiting to pick up pupils from Eagle Heights Academy when he heard a loud bang and saw a bus window shatter, reports show.
Police determined a large-caliber gun was used to shoot the window from the side of the bus, but no witnesses near the school had seen a shooter or heard gunfire.
Police did not find a spent bullet on the vehicle, but bus garage employees were scheduled to take a seat apart in search of the spent round, the report said.
