FOUR PROGRAMS RELATING TO THE CELEBRATION OF KWANZAA ARE PLANNED IN YOUNGSTOWN.



Four programs relating to the celebration of Kwanzaa are planned in Youngstown.
A pre-Kwanzaa celebration at 4 p.m. Sunday at Holy Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, 505 Parkcliff Ave. The event will feature ministerial interpretations of the Nguzo Saba (the Seven Principles), music, choirs and cultural expression. The Rev. Lewis W. Macklin II is pastor.
The Harambee Coalition will sponsor a program, Umoja (unity), at 7 p.m. Dec. 26 at New Bethel Baptist Church, 1507 Hillman St. The event will include music, dancing, cultural expression and black vendors. Harambee youths and other youth groups will participate. The Rev. Kenneth L. Simon is pastor.
Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, 328 S. Forest St., will host the program, Nia (purpose), at 6 p.m. Dec. 30. Choirs, mimes, skits and soloists from Youngstown-area churches will be featured. The Rev. George Wilkins is pastor.
The Harambee Coalition and Associated Neighborhood Centers will sponsor an Imani (faith) program at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 1 at the McGuffey Center, 1649 Jacobs Road. Participants are asked to take a covered dish to participate in Karamu (community feast). The Harambee Youth Organization will present dance and poetry. There will be black vendors.
