A summary of recent reported crime in Girard and Liberty:
GIRARD
Dec. 10
Theft: A man in the 500 block of Lawrence Avenue said a Niles man likely took the victim's $375 rent money.
Criminal damaging: A man in the 500 block of St. Clair Avenue told police his girlfriend, while intoxicated, kicked a side door to his residence and broke two windows.
Theft: A woman in the 600 block of Trumbull Avenue noticed someone broke into her truck and removed a compact-disc case with six CDs, as well as loose change.
Dec. 11
Arrest: Police picked up a Girard man, 60, near State Street and Broadway Avenue. He was wanted on a warrant charging him with public indecency.
Dec. 12
Burglary: A man in the 600 block of Trumbull Court discovered a front-door window broken at his home. A suitcase containing a stamp collection and various coins was taken.
Dec. 13
Arrest: Police charged a 21-year-old Warren man with illegal possession of a firearm in a liquor establishment. An employee at the Creekside Golf Dome, 1300 N. State St., called 911 to report a man at the bar was carrying a gun. The man said the firearm was unloaded.
Drugs: While serving a warrant at a residence in the 300 block of Indiana Avenue, police arrested a man, no age given, on a felony charge of drug abuse (heroin). Officers say he had a small bag of suspected heroin in a cigarette pack.
Attempted fraud: A Gary Avenue woman reported that a man repeatedly called claiming she won $600,000 and that she needed to send him $600 as a fee to collect the winnings.
LIBERTY
Dec. 7
Arrest: Poland police handed a 30-year-old New Castle, Pa., man to Liberty authorities. He was wanted on a warrant from Liberty charging him with receiving stolen property.
Theft: A worker at Auto Zone, 3109 Belmont Ave., found out at least two unauthorized gasoline purchases totaling $61 had been made with a store credit card.
Burglary: A woman in the 900 block of Tibbetts-Wick Road returned to find a rear door open and a $1,500 laptop computer missing.
Assault: A Mineral Ridge woman told police a man shoved her into her vehicle and threatened her in the 5700 block of Edwards Street.
Assault: An employee at Belmont Pines Hospital, 615 Church Hill-Hubbard Road, reported a female patient, 14, grabbed her hair, scratched her face and punched her several times.
Assault: Police charged a 26-year-old Youngstown man with assault, menacing and obstructing official business. Police say that after responding to an assault at a Holly Drive home, they saw the suspect chasing the victim, who was not hurt.
Theft: Two people reported a gold engagement ring, a gold chain, a nail gun and a circular saw stolen from a residence in the 200 block of Dailey Lane.
Dec. 9
Truck theft: A Holly Drive woman said a friend took her 1997 Ford Expedition without permission.
Forgery: Officers apprehended a Youngstown woman, 23, on a charge of forgery. She was accused of trying to cash a counterfeit $3,486 payroll check at Penguin Check Cashing, 3233 Belmont Ave.
Theft: A man in the 5800 block of Belmont Avenue reported the theft of two air compressors, two nail finishing guns and numerous other tools from his pickup truck. The loss was estimated at $5,250.
Truck theft: A Youngstown man told police he left his pickup truck running while at a BP station, 2703 Belmont Ave., and that someone drove away in it.
Auto theft: A man in the 300 block of Mansell Drive called police after someone got into the victim's 1996 Olds Delta 88 and drove off.
Dec. 10
Auto theft: An Orwell, Ohio, man visiting someone at the Tallyho-tel, 4249 Belmont Ave., reported another man stole his 2001 Hyundai Accent.
Theft: An employee at Goodwill Industries, 2747 Belmont Ave., found out someone removed $60 from her purse.
Assault: A Marla Lane man reported two men, 37 and 39, struck him several times during an argument. The victim suffered a bloody mouth, a black eye, a welt on his left eye and a cut on his hand.
Dec. 11
Criminal damaging: A man in the 200 block of Colonial Drive reported someone caused $100 worth of damage to two window frames. The perpetrator apparently was trying to break in.
Theft: A James Lane man realized someone broke into his vehicle and took the face plate to an in-dash stereo, about 200 CDs and a 7.5-inch view screen. The theft loss came to $3,950.
Dec. 12
Theft: An employee at Auto Zone, 3109 Belmont Ave., discovered the front license plates missing from two cars.
Domestic violence: While responding to a situation in a parking lot in the 3100 block of Belmont Avenue, officers arrested a 30-year-old Akron man on a domestic-violence charge after his girlfriend alleged he assaulted her. The victim, a 40-year-old Youngstown woman, also was arrested. Police learned she was wanted on a warrant from Hubbard charging her with possession of drug paraphernalia.
