101st Christmas Bird Count scheduled

CANFIELD -- Calling all bird watchers: The 101st Christmas Bird Count will be Saturday.
The area circle is a 7.5-mile radius from the corner of Lockwood Boulevard and Shields Road. The area includes people in Canfield, Struthers, Lowellville, Poland, North Lima, Boardman, Austintown, Ellsworth and Youngstown.
Residents in that area are asked to watch their bird feeders. Counts are held throughout Ohio, the United States and beyond. People are needed to go out in other parts of the count area and see what types of birds are there.
Novice birders will be teamed up with more experienced birders, so it can be a learning experience.
The first count in Youngstown was Dec. 24, 1904, and organizers want to continue the tradition.
