Salvation Army needs more toys

WARREN -- With about nine days left until Christmas, the Salvation Army of Warren is putting out the word that it needs more gifts to meet the need for financially distressed families.
"We still have to pack for approximately 700 children," said Capt. Jody Kramer, "and we're in need of toys for those children."
The Salvation Army is providing food for more than 780 families in the county and toys for more than 1,350 children. It's more than halfway there, but the need remains for toys for those other children.
"We have plenty of Barbies and baby dolls, but not many Bratz, board games, handheld electronic games and other games and gifts for the 10- to 12-year-old children," said Kramer. "These children are counting on Santa Claus to leave them presents under the tree on Christmas morning, and their parents are counting on us to make that happen."
Those who would like to help can pick up an Angel Tree tag at one of the sites throughout the county or simply buy toys and bring them to the Salvation Army office, 270 Franklin Street S.E.
