Salem Man plays Santa on Good Morning America
Santa studenton ABC show
SALEM -- William Dick of Salem, who has played Santa for many years, will be part of a segment on Santa Claus school on ABC's "Good Morning America" at 8 a.m. Saturday on WYTV-Channel 33.
He was attending a Santa school in Midland, Mich., in October when Bill Wehr, weekend anchor of "GMA," came to tape a segment. Dick was wired for sound while he played Santa wearing a St. Nicholas robe.
Dick can also be seen playing Santa on the "Madonna Pinkard Show" at 6:30 a.m. Christmas Day on WFMJ-TV, Channel 21.
A part of the Ministry of St. Nicholas for 14 years, Dick said he wants to change the American image of Santa Claus from "the bad guy taking away from the real meaning of Christmas." He advocates a shift to the Sinter Klaus icon, which came from Holland, who gives the gift of love through gifts and which has its roots in the first Christmas.
