Former CEO to speak at PSU commencement

SHARON, Pa. -- Former campus executive officer Dr. Albert Skomra will return to Penn State Shenango on Friday as the speaker at campus commencement ceremonies.
Skomra, who retired as campus CEO in November 1997, will address about 70 baccalaureate and associate degree graduates at 7:30 p.m. in the campus auditorium on Shenango Avenue. A reception will follow in Lartz Memorial Library.
Skomra began his career with Penn State in 1966 as a member of the Penn State Fayette faculty. He later served as both acting and interim campus executive officer at Fayette, and, in 1985, was named associate head of the university's department of English for the Commonwealth Educational System.
He was named campus executive officer at Shenango in 1991 and picked up additional duties in 1994 as acting campus executive officer at Penn State Beaver.
Since his retirement, Skomra has returned to the Fayette campus to teach some classes. He is also secretary of the Community Foundations of Fayette County, a member of the Communities in Schools and vice president of the Fayette Heritage State Theater.
