Authorities seek woman charged in fire of own home

BOARDMAN -- A state agency has issued a warrant for the arrest of a woman injured in an August explosion and fire at her Clifton Drive house, charging her with the crime.
The Ohio State Fire Marshal's office filed a felony charge of aggravated arson against Sharon A. Padilla, 43, who lived at 120 Clifton, said Chuck Hanni of the marshal's office. A warrant for her arrest was filed Tuesday in Mahoning County Area Court here.
Firefighters were called to the two-story Clifton home in the early morning hours of Aug. 27 to find the first floor engulfed.
Padilla was found in the bed of a pickup truck that was parked in the driveway. She spent several weeks in the burn unit of Akron Children's Hospital.
The force of the blast pushed out a wall and blew a side door from the house into the driveway.
Hanni declined to specify the details of the crime with which Padilla is charged.
The property has been in a dilapidated condition since the fire, and trustees last month declared it a nuisance.
