CORTLAND
Lakeview school board
Lakeview Board of Education handled these matters Monday night:
Bid goodbye and thank you to board member Beverly Roush Hoagland. Hoagland served 20 years on the board and chose to resign. Superintendent Bob Wilson presented her with plaques of appreciation from the school district and the Ohio Education Service Center Association. Hoagland is a graduate of Lakeview schools, taught fourth grade from 1975 to 1979, and is the current superintendent of Maplewood Schools.
Had a discussion about unauthorized use of the handicapped parking spaces at Lakeview Elementary School. Resident Melissa Jones has met with Wilson several times to discuss the problem. Wilson told the board the spaces have been repainted with a bright blue fluorescent paint. Letters also have been mailed to the parents of the pupils concerning the unauthorized parking. Jones said the situation hasn't changed since September, adding that if the board doesn't do more to resolve the matter, her lawyer will contact the panel. Wilson said the board will continue to look into the problem.
Set its organizational meeting for 5:30 p.m. Jan. 9 with the regular session to follow at 6 p.m.
