School plans benefit for cancer patient



COLUMBIANA -- Heartland Christian School will hold a fund-raising dinner to benefit Pete Test, 44, who was recently diagnosed with brain cancer.
The dinner will be from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Friday at the school, 28 Pittsburgh St. Proceeds will help the Test family pay for everyday living expenses. The dinner is being coordinated by a school employees led by Linda Brandenstein, director of school and community relations, and Laurie Fry, a second-grade teacher.
Test and his wife, Kim, have two children who attend Heartland. Their son, Alden, 8, is in third grade and their daughter, Olivia, 11, is in fifth grade.
Test was recently laid off from his job of 13 years as a pilot with USAirways. His health benefits will expire in three months.
A number of local businesses and organizations have donated food, paper supplies and other items for the dinner. The school is donating the use of the facility.
