PREP SPORTS Canfield beats Springfield, 88-51, for first victory



Three players scored 17 points each to lead Rayen past Campbell.
CANFIELD -- Mike Rounsavall scored 20 points and hauled in 10 rebounds as the Canfield High boys basketball team posted its first win Saturday, 89-51 over Springfield.
Kyle Melewski hit three 3-pointers and scored 17 for the Cardinals (1-1). Joe Carbon scored 14 points and Sean Baker had 11 points and seven steals.
Zach DeJean and Dave McClearn led the Tigers (1-1) with 10 points apiece.
Girls basketball
YOUNGSTOWN -- Danielle Liggins, Tiera Jones and Brittany Taylor scored 17 points each to lead The Rayen School past Campbell 62-15.
Jones also had 10 rebounds, seven steals and two blocked shots for the Tigers (2-1). Liggins had six rebounds and three assists.
Taylor added seven rebounds, eight steals and four assists, and Kenysha Beacham-Tennant had 10 points.
For Campbell (1-4), Danielle Bell had had three points and eight rebounds, and Sophia Brown had three points and nine rebounds.
Southeast 53, Ravenna 25
RAVENNA -- Hannah Harnar scored 21 points to lead Southeast.
Lindsay Seidel added 12 points for the Pirates and Stephanie Lee scored 10.
Ravenna was led by Tabitha Roberts with eight points.
Wrestling
PAINESVILLE -- West Branch and Boardman finished 1-2 at the Riverside Rumble.
West Branch scored 298.5 points and had 11 place winners. Andy Lamancusa (145 pounds) and Nathan Sharp (275) won individual championships.
Also for the Warriors, Josh Marshall (112) and Zach Miller (125) both placed third, Nick Hoops (119), Alex Austin (152) and Josh Learn (160) were fourth; John Karlen (140) was sixth; Bernie Wallace (103) and Elliott Citino (135) were seventh, and Logan O'Neal (171) was eighth.
Boardman had 10 place winners and scored 284 points. Justin Powell was the Spartans' lone individual champion, at 215. Bobby Creatore (130), Nick DeMarinis (152) and Brian Cramb (275) were runners-up.
Jeff Liggitt (112), Mike Rosa (125), Frank Ancrile (140) and Zac Vallos (160) all placed fifth, Wes Rajkovich (145) was seventh and Brad Creatore (189) was eighth.
Also competing at the tournament was Liberty, which placed 10th with 156 points. Tod Rogers was runner-up at 171, while Jared Hideg (135) was fifth, Khalid Elwanni (130) was sixth and Zack Martin (119) was eighth.
Howland
WELLSBURG, W. Va. -- Steve Wall and Kyle Gantz finished as runners-up to lead the Tigers to a fourth place finish of 14 teams at the Wendy's Brooke Classic.
Howland scored 217.5 points.
Wall competed at 125 pounds and Gantz at 215.
Also placing for Howland were Kyle Leek, third at 112; Greg Ryan, fourth at 130; Cody Leek, third at 135, and Mike Kreatsulas, fourth at 189.
Canon McMillen (Pa.) won the team title with 292 points, followed by Wheeling (W. Va.) Park with 275 and Oak Glen (W. Va.) with 250. East Liverpool was 13th with 78 points.
