Like everything else about a season where the Saints were displaced from their hurricane-ravaged home in New Orleans, the on-the-field situation is in disarray. With a 3-9 record, the best the team can do is avoid the 3-13 season the Saints stumbled through in 1999. That's the worst finish for the franchise since Tom Benson bought the team in 1985. If things weren't tough enough, the Saints couldn't dress in the Alamodome's locker rooms or conduct walkthroughs on the field this week because the NCAA Volleyball Tournament was booked for the stadium.
