Orioles seek to soothe disgruntled Tejada
BALTIMORE -- Miguel Tejada and the Baltimore Orioles agree on this much: Both want to win.
There is still some question, however, whether Tejada will be a part of the team's quest to become a contender.
Frustrated over the team's failure to add quality talent during the off-season, the Orioles' shortstop said last week he would like to be traded. Baltimore has since received several trade offers, but executive vice president Mike Flanagan said Sunday the team wants to hold onto Tejada, who last year hit .305 with 26 homers and 98 RBIs for the fourth-place Orioles.

NEW YORK -- Norries Wilson, the offensive coordinator at Connecticut, is the new football coach at Columbia.
He replaces Bob Shoop, who was fired on Nov. 20, a day after a 52-21 loss to Brown left the Lions with a winless Ivy League season and a 2-8 record.
UCLA kicker arrested
LOS ANGELES -- UCLA kicker Justin Medlock was arrested for investigation of drunken driving and felony hit-and-run after allegedly leaving the scene of the accident, which left a member of the school's women's golf team seriously injured, authorities said Sunday. The 22-year-old junior was suspended indefinitely from the team and will not play Dec. 30 in the Sun Bowl, coach Karl Dorrell said Sunday in a statement.
Medlock was driving a 1998 Toyota pickup on the San Diego Freeway about 3 a.m. Saturday with 20-year-old UCLA golfer Hannah Jun in the passenger seat when he hit a call box and the truck flipped over, said Officer Tariq Johnson, a spokesman for the California Highway Patrol.
