Golf Dome to feature rock bands, fighting
GIRARD -- Like some rock music with your ultimate fighting?
Check out the Y-Town/Wartown Fight Night and Concert, Friday at Creekside Golf Dome, 1300 N. State St. The show, featuring four professional and amateur cage fights and three bands, starts at 7 p.m. and ends at midnight.
Tickets for the all-ages show are $18.50 for general admission and $27.50 for V.I.P, ringside and upper deck seats. They are on sale at Creekside Golf Dome; Jim Bundy's Freestyle Karate, 815 Youngstown Road, Niles; and at www.fightIFBL.com
Bands performing are Underscore from Washington, D.C.; Arms For Venus from Cleveland; and Red Sun from Warren.
A guest appearance will be made famed cage fighter "Magical" Ray Elbe.
The fights scheduled are:
Micah "Mayhem" Bender of New Castle, Pa., vs. Jared Rollins of Irvine, Calif., in a professional middleweight bout.
Gerry Noche of California vs. Jason Miknuk of San Diego in an amateur lightweight bout.
Matt Lenzi of New Castle, Pa., vs. Cody "The Mountaineer With No Fear" Carpenter of West Virginia in an amateur welterweight bout.
David Guido of Clarion, Pa., vs. "Ghetto" Joe Herrera of California in an amateur welterweight bout.
All fights are five rounds of three minutes, and will be conducted as per Nevada state regulations.
Food and bar service will be available.
Stars of Tomorrowcoming to playhouse
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- The 10th annual Stars of Tomorrow show will be held at 3 and 8 p.m. Jan. 7 at New Castle Playhouse, 202 E. Long Ave. Dale Brenner of WRRK-FM in Pittsburgh will be the master of ceremonies.
The show features a variety of performances of local and regional high school students including singing, dancing, comedy and instrumentals. Special opening and closing numbers will be high energy and showcase all of the shows performers.

Stars of Tomorrow is being directed by Vaughn Hudspath of Ellwood City. Maura Fornataro is the music director, Jennifer Roe is the choreographer and Dr. Thomas Zumpella is the conductor. Janice Lyons and Jack Fulena are co-producers of the show. All are from New Castle.
A 20-piece All-Star Jazz Orchestra will be under the direction of Dr. Zumpella.

YOUNGSTOWN -- Music at Madison will present the third annual "Sounds of Christmas" at 8 p.m. Saturdaydec.17 at the Youngstown Maennerchor, 831 Mahoning Ave.
The show stars Rodd Coonce, along with Geri DeWitt Tichnor, Diane Drapcho, Richard Eddinger, Natalie Lengyl, Amy Russell and Patsy Sullivan.

Concert for troops
CLEVELAND -- The Freedom Calls Foundation announced today that at noon Saturday, the Cleveland Institute of Music will present a holiday concert via videoconference for U.S. troops in Iraq. This performance will be followed by individual sessions for families to visit with their military loved ones from 1-5 p.m.
