Davis, Finamore All-OAC academic

BEREA -- Matt Davis (Mineral Ridge) and Mike Finamore (Boardman), who enjoyed their best seasons with the Baldwin-Wallace College football team this year, have been selected to the Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference team.
Davis, a defensive tackle, carries a 3.4 grade-point average in psychology and political science.
Finamore, a defensive back, has a 3.89 GPA in biology and pre-medicine and plans to attend medical school.
B-W coach John Snell, who completed his fourth season with a 28-14 record, called Davis and Finamore "exceptional students and football players [who] have their priorities in the right place and strive for excellence both in the classroom and on the football field."
Davis ranked fourth on team in total tackles with 51, including three quarterback sacks and 5.5 tackles for losses, and also made the All-OAC team.
Finamore came up with 28 tackles, including 17 solo stops, and led the team with two interceptions and had five other pass breakups.
B-W's Pietro All-OAC pick
BEREA -- Matt Pietro (Canfield), a sophomore on the Baldwin-Wallace men's soccer team, was selected to the All-OAC team as an honorable mention.
Pietro led B-W in scoring with 17 points on a team-best seven goals and three assists to help the Yellow Jackets to a 14-6-1 record, including 6-2-1 in the OAC for third place. The 14 wins tied the school record set last year. B-W also placed fourth in the OAC tournament.
Pietro also led B-W in game-winning goals with five.
In his two seasons at B-W, Pietro has 10 goals and five assists for 25 points.
Brickner, Turic on B-W team
BEREA -- Lindsay Brickner (Lisbon) and Cassandra Turic (Poland) were members of the Baldwin-Wallace women's cross country team.
Brickner, a sophomore, turned in top times of 21 minutes, 15 seconds in the 5-kilometer run and 24:03 in the 6-kilometer event.
She ran her 21:15 at the All-Ohio Invitational to place 75th out of 282 runners, and her 24:03 at the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional to place 115th out of 222 runners.
Turic, a freshman, registered top times of 20:54 in the 5-K and 24:58 in the 6-K.
She ran her 20:54 at the Bowling Green Invitational to place 40th out of 83 runners, and her 24:58 at the Wilmington Invitational to finish 47th out of a field of 83.
