Woman gets up to 23 months in jail on drug charge



Several people were sentenced on various charges.
MERCER, Pa. -- Several people received prison terms in Mercer County Common Pleas Court on Friday.
Judge Thomas Dobson sentenced Nancy Balint, 39, of East Connelly Boulevard, Sharon, to three to 23 months in prison for three counts of unlawful delivery of cocaine. She pleaded guilty to selling between .33 and .47 grams of cocaine to an informant on three occasions in the fall of 2003.
Daryl McBride Jr., 22, of Colt Court, Warren, Ohio, was sentenced to one to two years in prison for felony possession of a firearm after a felony conviction, a felony. On June 14, he was apprehended at an East State Street, Sharon, residence with a .38-caliber revolver with the serial number filed off the handgrip. McBride has a previous conviction for drug trafficking, court documents state.
Michael Taylor, 38, of Orchard Street, Sharon, was sentenced to one to four years in prison for felony statutory sexual assault. In March 2005, he had sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old girl at a Cedar Avenue, Sharon address, court documents state.
Ronald Wilson, 45, of Maple Drive, Greenville, was sentenced to six to 18 months in prison for retail theft, a misdemeanor. On Feb. 22, he took a portable scanner and two Motorola "talkabouts" valued at a total $215 from Radio Shack, 43 Williamson Road, Hempfield Township.
Also sentenced were:
UJared Knight, 22, of Harrisville, Pa., placed on one year's probation for possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor, and for possessing a crack pipe and other items when apprehended Oct. 1, 2004, at a North Erie Street, Mercer, address.
UJohn Root, 31, of Deer Creek Road, West Middlesex, was sentenced to eight days to eight months in jail for one consolidated count of felony forgery to be followed by one year's probation for simple assault, a misdemeanor. He was also ordered to make restitution. Root passed counterfeit $20 bills last March at the Jug Handle Tavern, 3623 North Hermitage Road, Pymatuning Township, and at Last Minit Mart, 62 W. Main St., Greenville. In August, 2004, he also punched a man in the face, cutting him under the eye, at a Maple Drive, Pymatuning Township residence.
UShawn Schuster, 19, of Rutledge Road, Transfer, was sentenced to three to 15 months in jail for theft by unlawful taking. Half the time will be served as house arrest. In March, he took $27,225 worth of jewelry from a Lexington Drive, Hermitage residence.
