EFFORT, PA. Bear taken from under front porch

EFFORT, Pa. (AP) -- This bear needs a home to call his own.
State game officers removed an enormous black bear Wednesday that had picked the wrong place to spend the winter -- under the porch of a home where four children live.
"It can hibernate somewhere else," Barbara Sainvil said after the tranquilized bear was dragged out from under her front porch in front of camera-clicking neighbors in this eastern Pennsylvania town in the Poconos.
Two winters ago, the same bear had to be removed from under a porch a few miles away.
"He's back doing the same thing, finding a nice home to crawl under," said state Game Commission spokesman Tim Conway.
After being tranquilized, the bear was taken to state game lands.
"He just picked his head up. He didn't bother with us at all," Conway said.
The bear has gained weight since his last encounter with the game commission. He was a relatively svelte 500 pounds then; he weighs between 600 and 700 pounds now.
The bear, which was tagged in 1992, was spotted Sunday by two children playing outside in the snow. The screaming youngsters ran back into the house and told their father.
