Grove City, Ohio, police arrest boy, 16, in Warren man's slaying
WARREN -- A 16-year-old boy was arrested in Grove City, Ohio, near Columbus and charged in the Nov. 30 slaying of a Warren man.
Donald R. Jordan, for whom police listed Columbus and Grove City addresses, was arrested on a warrant by Grove City police about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at his mother's residence after a two-hour standoff.
Jordan is charged in the shooting death of John Wright, 18, of Warren, for whom no exact address is known. Wright was shot once in the head with a handgun outside an apartment building at 1190 Roberts Ave. N.W. in Warren.
Jordan, who has relatives in Warren, was interviewed late Wednesday in Columbus by Warren detectives. Jordan is being held in the Franklin County Detention Center, pending extradition proceedings.
Warren police Detective Jeff Hoolihan would not discuss the motive for the shooting. Hoolihan said additional charges may be filed in the case later.
Grove City police arrested Donald R. Dawkins, 30, who lives with Jordan's mother, on a warrant for a probation violation in a drunk-driving conviction.
Police said the standoff, during which negotiators and the Columbus police SWAT team were called to the scene, began when Jordan and Dawkins refused to come out of the apartment. There were no injuries.
"Our investigation led us to Jordan after we interviewed several witnesses at the scene, and we were able to get an identification of him as a suspect," Hoolihan said. A large crowd gathered at the scene after Wright was shot.
