Series: This is the 10th meeting between the teams with Eastern Michigan holding a 5-4 advantage. The Penguins won the last meeting a year ago in Youngstown, beating the Eagles 74-60 as part of the Bracket Buster event. Eastern Michigan won the previous five meetings including the last meeting in Ypsilanti in 1989, 108-86. The series began in 1958.
Game notes: The Penguins have lost three straight but have been playing well, losing in the closing minutes in all three games after holding the lead into the second half. Junior guard Quin Humphrey has three consecutive double-doubles for the Penguins and is averaging over 19 points a game. Eastern Michigan has lost three straight after winning its season opener with California 67-65. The Eagles have also lost to Horizon League member Detroit 65-60. The Eagles have a local connection. Senior co-captain and three-year letterman Danny McElhinny is a 6-0 guard from Kennedy Catholic High in Hermitage, Pa. McElhinny has made 108 3-point goals in his career and is averaging 8.3 points this season. Senior John Bowler, a 6-9 forward, leads the Eagles with a 22.3 point average.
Next up: The Penguins finish off a three-game road trip with a Saturday night encounter at St. Bonaventure. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
WOMEN
YSU (2-4) vs. BUFFALO (2-3)

Where: Alumni Arena, Buffalo, N.Y.
Coaches: Tisha Hill is in her third season with the Penguins with an overall record of 17-41. Linda Hill-MacDonald is in her first season with the Bulls.
The series: This is the sixth meeting between the two teams who were both members of the Mid-Continent Conference at one time. Buffalo leads the series 3-2, but the Penguins won the last meeting a year ago 75-43 at Beeghly Center.
Game notes: The Penguins suffered their fourth defeat of the season and first at home on Monday night, dropping a 61-54 decision to Oakland, Mich. The Penguins did not play well for nearly 30 minutes and then almost pulled out the win. Senior Michelle Holmes led the Penguins with 12 points and sophomore Lauren Branson added 10. Buffalo comes into the game on a two-game winning streak having beaten Lafayette 66-56 and Niagara 68-45. The Bulls opened the season with losses to Canisius, Syracuse and Auburn. The Bulls' top scorer is senior Brook Meunier with a 13.6 average, while sophomore Heather Turner is hitting at a 10.6 clip. Freshman Jamie Schiebner is averaging 9 rebounds a game.
Next up: YSU will stay on the road Saturday when it travels to Ypsilanati, Mich., to take on Eastern Michigan in a 4 p.m. tip-off.
