FORT WORTH, Texas -- Laura Kurz scored 15 points and Alison Bales added 11 to lead Duke. Duke (7-0) held the Lady Frogs (2-5) to 25 percent shooting and outscored TCU 56-25 in the second half. All-American Monique Curry shot 1-for-5 and finished with eight points. The Blue Devils opened the second half with a 12-3 run, took their first 20-point lead four minutes into the period and extended the lead to 31 on Carrem Gay's layup with 8:33 left.
No. 6 Rutgers 58, Providence 45
PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Michelle Campbell scored 21 points and Cappie Poindexter added 16 to lead Rutgers in the Big East opener for both teams. Chelsea Marandola scored 14 and Gayle Nwafli added 11 for the Friars (1-6). Campbell and Poindexter combined for all of Rutgers' points in taking a 13-8 lead in the first few minutes. Providence surged ahead, 29-21, in the first half on a 23-10 run capped by Allie Gard's three-pointer at 3:31. The Friars ended the half with a 31-25 lead, making 12 of their last 18 shots, including 5 of 12 three-pointers.
No. 17 Georgia 97, Iona 60
ATHENS, Ga. -- Sherill Baker scored a career-high 25 points to lead Georgia. Janese Hardrick scored 18 points in a reserve role, Cori Chambers added 15, Megan Darrah 13 and Tasha Humphrey 12. Martina Weber and Regan Pettijohn each scored 11 points for Iona (2-2). Lauren DeFalco had 10 points. Georgia (6-2) charged to a 30-8 lead with 7:04 to go in the first half by scoring 22 consecutive points. Hardrick scored 13 points in the run, with three 3-pointers and two breakaway layups.
