Badger's Jenny Place leads Bethany to win
Geneva rallied from a 16-point deficit to beat Malone.
BETHANY, W.Va. -- Bethany senior Jenny Place, a Badger High graduate, scored 24 points and freshman Mandi Swiger recorded her first career double-double as Bethany defeated Frostburg State, 70-67, Tuesday night.
Place, who shot 10 of 19, has scored 22 or more points in her last four games. She also had seven rebounds and five assists. Swiger had 10 points and a career-high 12 rebounds for the Bison (3-6).
Krystin Hargrove had 24 points for Frostburg (5-1).
Geneva 61, Malone 58
BEAVER FALLS, Pa. -- Geneva rallied from a 16-point halftime deficit to upend the Pioneers.
Jen Rawding scored 22 points on 8 of 12 shooting to lead the Golden Tornadoes (3-2). Allyson Clarke added 11 points and eight rebounds.
Nikki Parson scored 16 points to lead four players in double figures for Malone (2-7).
Allegheny 61, Westminster 48
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- Courtney Steding had a game-high 18 points to lead three scorers in double figures for Allegheny College.
Sophomore Terese Marszalek had 16 points and eight rebounds for Westminster (0-7). Junior guard Nicole Fee (Neshannock) added eight rebounds and Desiree Sterling (Newton Falls) had four assists.
Carnegie Mellon 66, Grove City 43
PITTSBURGH -- Carnegie Mellon broke the game open with a 9-2 run early in the second half.
Sophomore forward Rachel McCoy (Beaver Local) led Grove City with 12 points and eight rebounds while senior guard Tammy Hess added 11 points and six rebounds. Grove City held a 45-44 edge on the glass but the Wolverines turned the ball over 27 times.
Grove City also shot just 11 of 48 (23 percent) for the game. Gemma Easterling led CMU with 15 points.
