HOUSTON -- Brad Buckman had 17 points and 11 rebounds and LaMarcus Aldridge had 17 points and 10 boards as No. 2 Texas beat Rice 85-58 on Monday night at the Toyota Center.
Daniel Gibson had 15 points, four rebounds and three assists for the Longhorns (8-0), who meet top-ranked Duke at East Rutherford, N.J. on Saturday.
Texas is off to its best start since the 1981-82 team won its first 14 games. The Longhorns used a 14-0 run to build a 23-4 lead 8 minutes into the game.
Morris Almond had 17 points for Rice (3-4), which shot 35 percent (21-of-60) and was outrebounded 50-39.
No. 5 Louisville 53, Richmond 45
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Taquan Dean scored 20 of his season-high 30 points in the second half and Louisville rallied from a 10-point deficit at the Colonial Classic.
Louisville (4-0) avoided the upset behind Dean and a defense that held the Spiders (4-3) to 19 points and seven field goals over the final 20 minutes.
Kevin Steenberge had 15 points for Richmond, which led 32-22 with just over 15 minutes remaining.
No. 11 Illinois 75,Ark.-Little Rock 49
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- Freshman reserve Jamar Smith hit six 3-pointers and had 23 points for Illinois, which won its 25th straight game at Assembly Hall.
Smith was 8-of-10 from the field and had three assists and two steals. He scored seven points and had an assist during a 20-0 second-half run that broke the game open.
James Augustine scored 12 points for Illinois (8-0), while Brian Randle and Warren Carter each added 11.
