1,637 flu shots given
YOUNGSTOWN -- The 1,637 flu and pneumonia shots administered as of Nov. 30 at Youngstown City Health District clinics is about the number expected, according to Neil Altman, health commissioner.
Another clinic, open to the public, is scheduled Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the health department, 345 Oak Hill Ave.
The largest number of shots dispensed at a single clinic, 505, was a combined effort by the city health department and the Mahoning County District Board of Health on Oct. 27 at Mill Creek Community Center.
There is no indication of a flu vaccine shortage this year, said Altman. He said the department would continue to periodically offer the flu vaccine until January or February 2006.
