NOTEBOOK Browns vs. Jaguars
Mack is back: With Reuben Droughns on the verge of becoming the first Browns running back since 1985 to rush for 1,000 yards, the team brought back Kevin Mack (who ran for 1,104 in 1985), Mike Pruitt (who passed the milestone four times) and Greg Pruitt (who did it three times) for Sunday's game. Mack also met Browns Hall of Famer Jim Brown, who is an adviser for the team. "That was the first time I met Jim Brown," said Mack. "I was kind of excited to talk to him, really. I couldn't believe it." It was also the first time Mack has been in Cleveland Browns Stadium. Mack played in the old Municipal Stadium from 1985 to 1993. "It does seem a little too pretty," he said, laughing. "It's a great facility. I wish it would have been around when I played."Touchdown celebration: Jaguars tight ends George Wrighster and Kyle Brady got an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty in the third quarter for celebrating Wrighster's 9-yard touchdown reception by posing next to the picture of Ozzie Newsome on the end zone wall. "I don't normally do those things, but this week we had a tight end test and the bonus question was 'Who was the all-time receiver in Browns history?'" Brady said. "When we were down in the end zone, we noticed Ozzie's picture right there. We started to joke around, saying if one of us scores, we have to act like we're taking a picture with Ozzie. So when Wrighster got the touchdown right in front of his picture, we couldn't resist. I didn't see it as anything worse than any other celebration in the NFL."Dilfer or Frye: Browns coach Romeo Crennel hinted that injured starter Trent Dilfer would get the start at quarterback in Sunday's game at Cincinnati but said he won't know for sure until later in the week. "It's a game time decision," Crennel said. "I'll let you know at game time." Dilfer missed the Jaguars game with a knee injury he suffered in last week's loss to the Vikings. When asked if he deserved another start after his solid performance, Charlie Frye demurred. "It's not my decision, it's Coach Crennel's decision," Frye said. "We tried to rest Trent's knee this week and I'm sure he'll be ready to play next week."It's a long way from the beach: The game time temperature in Cleveland was 28 degrees with light snow flurries. The forecast for Jacksonville on Sunday? Partly sunny with a high of 75.
