Man hospitalized after robbery, assault

YOUNGSTOWN -- A North Side man remained in guarded condition Sunday evening in St. Elizabeth Health Center after being robbed and assaulted earlier in the day.
Angel DeJesus, 48, of Griffith Street told police two men jumped him in the 900 block of Madison Avenue near the Rescue Mission of Mahoning Valley, 962 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., around 12:45 p.m. The robbers demanded money and took around $240, a police report shows.
DeJesus told police the men appeared from near a trash bin, and one attacker grabbed him and struck him in the lower back. The other robber punched him on the left side of his neck, the report says.
One of the men took the victim to the ground before both fled, the report continues.
DeJesus said both attackers wore black clothing and full-head ski masks.
