Reception held for the Hameses on anniversary
XYOUNGSTOWN -- Mr. and Mrs. Richard J. Hames Sr. of Youngstown celebrated their 50th anniversary during a Mass held Nov. 27 at St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church, where they are members.
Afterward the couple were honored at a reception at St. George Croatian Lodge.
Hosts for the anniversary events were the couple's children, Mary Lou and Michael Sullivan of Youngstown and Joseph and Christine Hames of Ellsworth. Another son, Richard J. Hames Jr., is deceased. There are eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren in the family.
The former Patricia M. Parent and Mr. Hames were united in marriage Nov. 28, 1955, in Columbia, S.C.
Mrs. Hames, a homemaker, is a member of the Golden Pillar Club and the Rosary Society of the church.
Mr. Hames was a tool and die welder with General Motors Fabricating Plant for 30 years prior to retiring in 2000. He is a member of Retired Workers Chapter 1714 and the New Middletown Farmers and Sportsman Club.
As a continuation of their anniversary celebration, Mr. and Mrs. Hames will take a cruise to Alaska next summer.
