Woodrow Wilson falls to Campbell



Sebring rallied in the final 15 seconds to overcome Lordstown's 3-point lead.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Tommy Hall had 18 points and 15 rebounds, and Trey Soares bolstered Campbell High's attack with 12 points and 11 rebounds, as the Red Devils defeated Woodrow Wilson, 60-53, Friday, in the season opener.
Ryan Burton and Terrance Phillips aided the balanced Campbell attack with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Justin Maxwell and William Johnson each scored 17 points for the Redmen.
Johnson grabbed eight rebounds.
Champion 56, Struthers 45
STRUTHERS -- Struthers' 12-8 lead slowly vanished as the first quarter drew to a close, and the Wildcats eventually lost.
Junior point guard Matt Kukura and senior forward Chris Kadvan both had 10 points for Struthers, which made 7-of-14 free throws.
The Golden Flashes sank 11-of-17 free throws.
Brookfield 65, Badger 38
BROOKFIELD -- Josh Harkulich scored eight of his 15 points in the third quarter, while Brian Logan had 13 points and six assists for the Warriors.
After jumping in front 24-17 at the break, Brookfield scored 20 points in the third quarter to seize a 44-22 lead.
Cory Richards had nine points, 13 rebounds and three blocked shots for the Warriors.
Tyler McNenly scored nine points for the Braves.
Lakeview 52, Bristol 34
BRISTOLVILLE -- Senior guard Eddie Mackiewicz made six 3-pointers and 21 points overall to lead Lakeview, which didn't break away until late in the third quarter.
Of Lakeview's 35 rebounds, Mackiewicz, Dustin Opalka, Mike Marando and Zach Repphun each had six.
The game was tied at the half, 21-21, and close until the Bulldogs (1-0) built a slight lead with a late third-quarter run that resulted in a 38-30 spread after three periods.
Lakeview made 16-of-46 goals, while Bristol converted only 13-of-47 from the field.
Mitch King's 12 points paced Bristol.
Sebring 45, Lordstown 43
LORDSTOWN -- Lordstown led 43-40 with 15 seconds remaining, but the Trojans rallied in the season opener.
A 3-point basket tied the score, then Lordstown committed a turnover, leading to an uncontested layup for Sebring.
Jesse James and Zac Tieche led the Trojans with 12 points each.
Brandon Wickline paced Lordstown with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Jake Dieugenio had four steals.
Southeast 76, Garrettsville 47
RAVENNA -- Micah Herndon scored 26 points, and Alex Blake added 18 to lead Southeast.
Chad Eatinger added seven rebounds for the Pirates, who led 43-22 at halftime.
West Branch 65, United 49
HANOVERTON -- Kyle Rockwell and Shane Young evenly split 38 points for the Warriors.
Young had 10 rebounds and Rockwell nine.
West Branch, which placed 10 players in the scoring column, led by 28 points (56-28) after three quarters.
Rob Muhleman had nine points for United.
Southern 61, Beaver Local 34
SALINEVILLE -- Dan Desellum scored 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds for the Indians.
Aaron Boston tacked on 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Ethan Russell paced the Beavers with 13 points.
The Indians led 35-14 at the half.
