The American Cancer Society is accepting scholarship applications for the 2006-2007 academic year from young cancer survivors. Applications must be postmarked by Feb. 1. Applicants must live in Ohio and be United States citizens. They must have been diagnosed with cancer before age 21, be under age 25 at the time of the application, and plan to attend an accredited university or community college in the U.S. Call (888) 227-6446.
CPR classes
YOUNGSTOWN -- The National Safety Council is offering standard first aid and cardio-pulmonary resuscitation/automatic external defibrillator (CPR/AED) classes on Dec. 14. The CPR/AED class is from 8 a.m. to noon; and the first aid course is from 1 to 5 p.m., both at the National Safety Council, Northern Ohio Chapter at 25 E. Boardman St., Suite 343, Youngstown. The cost for each is $25 for NSC members and $32 for non-members. Call (330) 747-8657 to register.
Reiki class
VILLA MARIA, Pa. -- Reiki II will be offered 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Dec. 10 at Villa Maria Retreat Center by Sister Elaine Wellinger. Training is for those who have completed Reiki I. The cost is $165. Call (724) 964-8920 Ext. 3241 to register.
