MCCTC open house
CANFIELD -- Mahoning County Career & amp; Technical Center, 7300 N. Palmyra Road, will hold a holiday open house from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. school days through Dec. 22.
At the greenhouse and gift shop are poinsettias, pine roping, live and artificial wreaths, silk flower arrangements, live table arrangements, baskets and other gift items.
All items on sale were developed as learning activities for the two-year course of study required of MCCTC horticulture students.

'Project Christmas Elf'
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- Names of needy children in the Butler/Law-rence County area for "adoption" as part of Slippery Rock University's Institute for Community, Service-Learning and Non-profit Leadership's "Project Christmas Elf" are available by calling (724) 738-2273.
Names of needy children are provided by local Salvation Army operations in the respective counties. In addition to university departments, offices and campus organizations, individuals and community groups are also invited to participate by adopting a needy child for Christmas providing items from the child's wish list.
Gifts will be gathered for delivery to the Salvation Army from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday in the Russell Wright Alumni House.
The project was begun 16 years ago to help the university mark the 100th anniversary of the university's founding.
