Kathryn Young chosen Woman of the Year

MINERAL RIDGE -- The First Presbyterian Church of Mineral Ridge honored Kathryn Young by naming her 2005 Presbyterian Woman of the Year. Family and friends attended a worship service Nov. 6, and a reception in her honor followed.
Young has been a member of the church since 1946. She and her late husband, Bill, were married in the church in 1939. She has two daughters, Billie Kay Moore of Mineral Ridge and Barbara Bickerstaff of Columbus; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Young was ordained a deacon in 1978 and continues to visit the shut-ins with the pastor. She was a teacher in the church school and vacation Bible school and is a participant in the Bible and book studies. Young also has served as the president of the Presbyterian Women, chaired the trash and treasure booth for many years at the annual bazaars, was a chapel aide at Park Vista, sang in the church choir, helped with senior citizen lunches and Rescue Mission dinners, and maintained the Cradle Roll for many years.
Young is president of the Leah Circle.
