Educator gets Pioneer in Education award

YOUNGSTOWN -- Sister Jerome Corcoran, executive director of the Youngstown Community School and Millcreek Children's Center, has received an Ohio Pioneer in Education award.
The award, presented by the Ohio Department of Education and the State Board of Education, recognizes educators and policymakers who help to significantly advance education practices in Ohio.
Sister Jerome founded the Millcreek Children's Center 30 years ago to provide specialized individual instruction for low-income pupils, and she received the award in conjunction with the center's 30th anniversary celebrations.
