Woman sentenced in case involving child
YOUNGSTOWN -- A city woman has received a suspended six-month jail sentence for telling a 7-year-old child to touch her genitals.
Melody Gayles of Logan Avenue was sentenced Thursday by Mahoning County Common Pleas Court Judge Maureen A. Sweeney for contributing to the unruliness or delinquency of a minor.
The judge also sentenced Gayles to one year of probation and ordered an assessment for substance abuse issues, telling Gayles that she must comply with recommendations of that report.
Mahoning County Assistant Prosecutor Dawn Krueger said the child and Gayles were family acquaintances.
