Police charge father with attacking son

AUSTINTOWN -- A man has been charged with domestic violence after his son reported the father beat him with a fire extinguisher, a police report says.
John A. Pease, 49, 6495 Mahoning Ave., was arraigned on the first-degree misdemeanor Thursday in county court here. His pretrial is set for Jan. 9 at 1 p.m.
Police charged Pease after his son, John R. Pease, 22, dialed 911.
The father came home at about 5:30 a.m. Thursday and was extremely intoxicated, the son told police.
When he went to check on his father, his father accused him of stealing his cigarettes and started to punch and choke him, the report said.
The son said his father grabbed a fire extinguisher off the wall and hit him on the head, causing cuts and a brief period of unconsciousness, according to the report.
The son was treated at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
