YOUNGSTOWN -- Tickets are now available to the public at a discount rate for a special Girl Scout/Boy Scout Night performance of Disney On Ice at the Chevrolet Centre.
Tickets for the Dec. 30 show, which starts at 7 p.m., are $18.50 and $13.50 and include a Disney patch and an invitation to a post-show Scout clinic.
Tickets can be purchased by credit card by calling the Girl Scouts regional office at (330) 652-5877.
SMARTS open house
YOUNGSTOWN -- Students Motivated for the Arts (SMARTS) will hold a holiday open house from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday at SMARTS Center, 258 W. Federal St.
The event will include refreshments, music, decorating and hand-on activities and is open to students from kindergarten to 12th grade. Groups of 10 or more must have reservations. Call (330) 941-2787 for more information.

Students of Rockto perform concert
CLEVELAND -- The Paul Green School of Rock is most unusual. The Philadelphia-based school -- which inspired the hit movie "School of Rock," starring Jack Black -- teaches promising teenagers to play like rock stars. It has 10 branch campuses in several states.
The school's touring group, The School of Rock All-Stars, will perform at 1:30 p.m. Dec. 28 at House of Blues. Tickets are $14 in advance ($16 at the door), and are available at www.hob.com.

Taiko drumming residency offered
CLEVELAND -- Playhouse Square Foundation's arts education department is currently accepting applications from area teens interested in participating in a six-day Taiko drumming residency with Eitetsu Hayashi. The residency begins on Jan. 23 and culminates with a performance at Cuyahoga Community College's Metro Campus on Jan. 28. No previous drumming or musical experience is necessary. Applications are available online at PlayhouseSquare.com/arts-education or by calling (216) 348-7912. The residency will take place in the new Idea Center at Playhouse Square.
Eitetsu Hayashi is world famous for his ability to play the Japanese Taiko, a traditional drumming art form.
