Warren man shot to death

WARREN -- A 28-year-old city man died after being shot in the head with a handgun Tuesday evening at Transylvania and Carolina avenues on the Southeast Side, police said.
The victim, Artis C. Jones Jr. of Wick Street Southeast, was taken by ambulance to Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital and then to St. Elizabeth Health Center, where he died at 2:10 p.m. Wednesday. The shooting occurred about 8:48 p.m., according to a police report.
Police initially listed the shooting as a felonious assault, then crossed that out and replaced those words with homicide on the report. Police were dispatched to the scene after they received a report of someone lying on the sidewalk.
Circumstances leading up to the shooting were not available.
An autopsy was to be performed today, said Richard Jamrozik, Mahoning County coroner's investigator.
