PREP SOCCER ROUNDUP Lee paces Howland past Boardman, 2-1



He scored both goals as the Tigers handed the Spartans their first loss.
HOWLAND -- Tim Lee scored two goals to key Howland High to a 2-1 victory over Boardman in a boys soccer game Monday.
Lee scored on an assist from Ian Jones in the first half, then scored again with 8:00 left in the second half on a throw-in by Josh Keul for a 2-0 lead.
Nick Antonucci scored Boardman's goal on a free kick with 20 seconds left.
Howland goalie Paul Burley had five saves. The Tigers are 2-0.
Boardman (3-1) goalie Matt Moore had six saves.
Crestview 4, Oak Glen 2
COLUMBIANA -- James Frost scored three goals and an assist to lead Crestview.
Cooper Wiley added the final goal and David Felger had an assist for the Rebels (3-1).
Ryan Childers and Collin McGeeran each scored one goal for Oak Glen.
Liberty 6, Newton Falls 4
LIBERTY -- Ron Hunkus and Jim Kelly each scored two goals, while Brent Callihan and Ryan Karson added one goal apiece to lead Liberty (1-0-1), which took a 3-0 halftime lead.
For Newton Falls (0-1-1), Freddie Harris had two goals while Payson Cowie and Josh Banyas contributed one goal apiece.
Liberty goalie Jeremy Hume had three saves while Newton Falls goalie Kurt Ellis had five saves.
Girls
NEWTON FALLS -- Bethany Runtas had two goals and as many assists to spark Newton Falls (1-1-2) over Girard, 5-1.
Casee Piquet, Kortni Collins and Mary Jo Spletzer contributed one goal apiece. Collins, Lauren Mauric and Emily Montgomery each had one assist.
Kelli Meigs scored Girard's lone goal while Jamie Schnarrs had the assist.
Newton Falls goalies Jessica Muser and Amanda Pagano registered four and two saves, respectively.
Girard (1-2) goalie Ashley Esposito turned in 11 saves.

AUSTINTOWN -- Kelli Willis scored a goal with 13:05 remaining on an assist from Marisa Simon, to pull Mooney (1-0-1) into the tie.
The Falcons (1-1-1) had taken a 1-0 lead at 19:43 of the first half on Dana Lucido's goal on an assist from Tiarra Sanders.
Fitch goalie Cara Calai had eight saves, while Mooney goalie Natalie Humphreys had six saves.

CHAMPION -- Liz Vernal two goals and one assist and Jill Terreri one goal and two assists to pace Canfield (3-0).
Vicki Magyar and Audra Frimpong added one goal and one assist each and Kaley Donovan one goal to bolster the Cardinals. Ashley Hunter had three saves.
Alyssa Boggess had the goal for Champion (1-1), while Kelly Dillon had 19 saves.

LIBERTY -- Shannon Sarisky had two goals and Liz Crafton had two assists in a Trumbull Athletic Conference game.
Ashley Helmick, Tressa Scahill, Jordana Lima, Kelsey Denyen, Brittani Duvall, Patty Ryser and Paige Zents each scored for Hubbard (1-1-0). Michelle Dykes had 20 saves for Liberty.
Warren JFK 6, Bristol 0
BRISTOLVILLE -- Jenn Natale and Lexie Polivka each had two goals in the first and second halves, respectively, to spark Warren JFK (3-0).
Roxy Hoerig and Zeina Abdul-Aaal each added one goal while Jacque Mohney and Lauren Perisa had one assist apiece to support the Eagles.
