XEL CERRITO, Calif. -- Ocho Rios, Jamaica, was the honeymoon destination of Andrew Shaifer, 5432 Panama Ave., Richmond, Calif., and his bride, the former Melissa Nicole Counts, 1825 Marlesta Court, Pinole, Calif., after their 2:30 p.m. July 30 wedding and reception, both at Mira Vista Golf and Country Club. The Rev. Robert Smith officiated.
The daughter of Millicent H. Counts, 2020 Felicia Ave., Youngstown, and Luther A. Counts Jr., 127 Benton Ave., Austintown, and the son of the late William and Leada Shaifer., who lived in Detroit, live at the Richmond address.
Wearing pink gowns were the bride's sister and honor attendant, Shannon Counts-Hymes, and the bridesmaid, Shanise Shaifer, the groom's daughter. Flower girls were the bride's niece, Erica Hayden, and the groom's nieces, Kyndelle Johnson, Ashanti McCreary and Kaiya Johnson. Also participating was the groom's daughter, Sheena Shaifer.
Best man was the groom's son, Ryan Shaifer, groomsman was his nephew, Lamar Cotton, and ring bearer was his nephew, Gabriel McCreary Jr. Ushers were Brandon Rankin and Roberto McBean.
The bride graduated from Notre Dame College in Cleveland with a bachelor's degree in communications. She is a community loan officer with World Savings Bank in Albany, Calif.
The groom, a mechanic with Bay Area Rapid Transit in Richmond and chief steward of Service Employees International Union, served as an aviation missile technician with the U.S. Navy.
