HOW IT WORKS | National Do Not Call List

To register: Call (888) 382-1222 or go to the Web site www.donotcall.gov. For TTY, call (866) 290-4236.
Online users may submit up to three telephone numbers as well as their e-mail addresses. Verification will be sent by e-mail for each phone number. Consumers must respond to those e-mails within 72 hours to complete registration.
To register by telephone, you must call from the number you wish to add to the registry. Once you have registered, your phone number should appear in the directory by the next day.
Telemarketers covered by the National Do Not Call Registry have up to 31 days before they must stop calling you. If they don't comply, you can file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission or Federal Communications Commission. Telemarketing companies may be fined up to $11,000 for each call.
Registration is effective for five years, unless you take your name out of the registry or change your phone number.
Do not take phone calls from people who say they want to confirm your information on the Do Not Call Registry. You may be the target of a scam.
