The public is invited when the Mahoning Valley Coalition to Save Our Social Security holds its Happy Birthday to Social Security day of action Thursday.
Events will begin at 9 a.m. outside the Trumbull County Social Security Office, 1353 E. Market St., Warren, with a speech by U.S. Rep. Timothy Ryan of Niles, D-17th. A car caravan will then go to the Youngstown Social Security Office, 101 E. Federal St., Youngstown. The event will end shortly after noon with a speech by state Sen. Bob Hagan, D-33rd.
A luncheon, sponsored by RE-UNION, an organization of Steel Workers, will follow immediately at the USWA Local 1375 Hall, 684 North Park Ave., Warren.

Recycling locations
BOARDMAN -- Recycling locations in Boardman Township have returned to their permanent residence at both the Boardman Township Government Center and the Boardman Fire Station 74. The permanent location for recycling at the Government Center is by the road department salt dome, no longer in front of the government center; the permanent location for recycling at Fire Station 74 is behind the fire station, no longer at Pat Catan's.
Temporary road closing
SMITH -- Alliance-Sebring Road, between Oyster and Bandy roads in Smith Township, will be closed from Tuesday to Sept. 6 to allow Mahoning County engineer's office crews to replace a culvert.
Senior Crime Prevention seminar planned
HERMITAGE, Pa. -- State Sen. Bob Robbins of Greenville, Pa., R-50th, will host a free Senior Crime Prevention seminar from 9:45 to 11:45 a.m. Sept. 14 at Shenango Valley Senior Center, 220 N. Buhl Farm Drive.
The seminar will include information on several topics including home improvement fraud, telemarketing and sweepstakes ploys, living-trust scams and identity theft.
Pennsylvania Attorney General's Bureau of Consumer Protection, Mercer County District Attorney James P. Epstein, Mercer County Sheriff Bill Romine and representatives from the senior center will participate.

Town meeting to be held at community center
WARREN -- The Rebecca Williams Community Center will host a town meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at "The Club," 760 Main Ave. S.W. City residents are invited to voice their concerns and give input on how the center can better serve the community. For more information, call (330) 399-8931.
