Scrappers' Dixon is NYPL pitcher of week

Sunday will be Cleveland Indians Day at Eastwood Field.
NILES -- Mahoning Valley Scrappers starting pitcher Kevin Dixon was named the New York-Penn League Pitcher of the Week for the week of Aug. 8-14.
During that stretch, Dixon started two games and did not give up an earned run in 10 innings of work. He gave up only five hits, one walk and recorded seven strikeouts.
Dixon, a 6-foot 4-inch righthanded pitcher out of Minnesota State University, was the Indians fifth round pick in the 2005 Major League Draft. On the season, Dixon is 3-2 with a 3.10 ERA in 10 starts. He has only walked six batters in 40.2 innings pitched.
Sunday will be Cleveland Indians Day at Eastwood Field. The day will feature a special charity silent auction.
Fans will have the opportunity to bid on Scrappers, Indians and New York-Penn League memorabilia.
Auction items
Some of the auction items include autographed Cleveland Indians photos and baseballs, an autographed game-used base from a Scrappers game, team autographed baseballs from other New York-Penn League teams, a chance to eat lunch with a Scrapper and much more.
Proceeds from the auction will benefit the New York-Penn League Charitable Foundation and Cleveland Indians Charities.
Fans also will have the opportunity to participate in Indians themed promotions throughout the game with chances to win Indians tickets and other great prizes.
The Scrappers will be offering the following discount ticket promotions for the day: half-price box seats (1) if you were alive the last time the Indians won the World Series (1948); (2) if you wear your favorite Indians gear to the game (hats, jerseys, T-shirts etc.); (3) if you bring a ticket stub from a Cleveland Indians game to the ticket window at Eastwood Field.
The game will feature the Scrappers taking on the Batavia Muckdogs and gates open at 1 p.m. with the first pitch at 2:05 p.m.
