Canfield's tennis doubles classic slated for Aug. 27

CANFIELD -- The Canfield High girls tennis team will host the 2nd annual Cardinal Doubles Classic at Canfield High School on Aug. 27 beginning at 11 a.m.
The competing teams will be Upper Arlington from Columbus, Hathaway Brown and Magnificat both from Cleveland, and Canfield.
These teams represent some of the best talent in the state for girls tennis, according to Canfield coach Pat Pavlansky.
Canfield returns the defending state champions in doubles for Division I in Renee Lesnett and Rachel McGowan.
Upper Arlington is the six-time defending state championship team for Division I.
Hathaway Brown has captured the past two state Division II team titles and Magnificat has finished second in the state the past two seasons in Division I.
The tournament will have each school break up into four doubles teams and play each other in pool play.
Last year the winner was Upper Arlington with Hathaway Brown finishing second.
