CRIME STOPPERS Call for information: Help solve murder

YOUNGSTOWN -- Crime Stoppers is seeking information in an effort to solve a seven-year-old homicide case.
Torriano Adams, 25, of 1050 Eastway Drive, Apt. 4, was shot in the head and chest around 7 p.m. July 19, 1998, in the hallway of his East Side apartment building. The first officers on the scene found Adams on his right side in front of his apartment, bleeding from the head and chest.
Several witnesses heard gunfire but said they didn't see anything. One resident told police the murder may have been drug related because he had made several complaints to the apartment manager about Adams selling drugs in the complex.
Another witness said he heard one shot then someone say "What you do that for?" and then three more shots. The witness said he didn't see who fired and didn't hear anyone leave the building.
Suspect descriptions
Another witness told police that two black men, likely in their 20s, ran from the direction of the victim and head toward the west end of the apartment complex. The witness said one suspect wore a black and white striped shirt and black pants; the second wore a blue and white striped shirt and blue pants.
The resident who said he'd complained about drug activity told police that he questioned the truthfulness of the other witnesses' statements -- those who said they saw something and those who said they saw nothing.
The case is assigned to Detective Sgt. Gerald Maietta.
Anyone who may have information about the cold case is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (330) 746-CLUE. Up to $1,000 is given for information leading to the arrest and indictment of people accused of felonies in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties. The city recorded 47 homicides in 1998.
