Access road reopens;bridges cut to 1 lane
YOUNGSTOWN -- Access from Indianola Avenue to the Interstate 680 northbound ramp, the Indianola Avenue bridge over I-680 and Homewood Avenue is now open.
Also, the I-680 twin bridges over Calla Road are reduced to one lane of traffic in each direction until later this month, according to the Ohio Department of Transportation.
The road closures are a part of a $3.6 million project to replace five Youngstown bridges on I-680.
Access to all residences and establishments will be maintained throughout construction.
The project is scheduled for completion this fall, but all work is weather dependent, ODOT officials said.

$71,355 of stainless steel discovered missing
AUSTINTOWN -- The plant manager for Main Steel, 3805-13 Henricks Road, reported that 61,042 pounds of stainless steel is missing. The steel's estimated value is $79,354.60.
The stainless steel was reported as being stolen after an inventory found that 16 pallets of steel were missing.
About 24,000 pounds of steel was reported missing after a December 2004 inventory. At that time, a truck capable of carrying 20,000 pounds was stolen from a vendor in the same building as Main Steel.
Annual garden party set
YOUNGSTOWN -- Jubilee Gardens, Inc. will host its annual Garden Party from 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, at the community garden on LaFayette Street in the Brier Hill District.
The party will include the judging of 13 teams in gardening areas, including largest tomato and tallest sunflower.
Jubilee Gardens is a community gardening program that provides garden sites, seeds, plants and fertilizer to participants.

Computer system stolen
AUSTINTOWN -- A computer system worth about $1,000 was stolen from a home on North Meridian Road while the resident was away Sunday afternoon.
Juvenile punches out window, witness says
YOUNGSTOWN -- A witness told police that one of the juveniles who took chips and cakes from a convenience store on Glenwood Avenue Sunday evening then rolled a shirt over his hand and punched out an 8-foot-by-4-foot window at LaFrance Dry Cleaners, 2607 Glenwood. Value of the window was estimated at $500.
Items taken from shed
YOUNGSTOWN -- A lawnmower and weed trimmer were stolen from a recreation building storage shed at the Fosterville playground on West Indianola Avenue, police said. A city parks department maintenance worker discovered Monday afternoon that the shed had been pried open. The items were valued at $300, reports show.
Section of road to close
HERMITAGE, Pa. -- Weather permitting, Pa. Route 3037 (South Neshannock Road) will be closed between U.S. Route 62 and Virginia Road until 3 p.m. today to allow the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation to make a cross pipe replacement.
Tires to be collected
HOWLAND -- Howland Township will conduct a curbside scrap tire pickup Saturday for township residents only. Scrap tires should be placed curbside by 8 a.m. A limit of eight passenger tires with rims removed will be picked up per household; no truck tires will be picked up.
Annual flower show
GUSTAVUS -- The Friendly Garden Club will have its annual flower show Saturday. If anyone has a plant, cut specimen, or arrangement they would like to enter, bring it Saturday between 8 and 10 a.m. The public is invited to view this free show from 1:30 to 5 p.m. at the Gustavus town hall, at state Routes 193 and 87.
