'Summer Sizzle' festival
The Trumbull County Agriculture and Family Education Center will have its second "Summer Sizzle" festival on its grounds, 520 W. Main St., Cortland, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Admission and parking are free. Bring lawn chairs or blankets and even ride the haywagon back and forth to the center. The event will feature many family activities.
Entertainment will include Cortland Community Band from noon till 1 p.m.; the Garrettones band, 2 to 4 p.m.; May 'B' the clown; Mother Nature; and Jungle George.
Modern-dance program
The Youngstown Community Dance Company will present an evening of modern dance for the & quot;Universal Cafe & quot; series Monday at the First Unitarian Church on the corner of Wick and Illinois avenues. The program will feature choreography by Susan Callen-Miracle to the music of Bach, Peter Gabriel and Rusted Root. Guests include Diane Bilski, Kathy Gabriel, Amanda Michaud, Kathleen Murray and Susan Callen-Miracle. The program will also include Teddy Pantelas playing classical, jazz and original guitar music.
The evening will begin with a lecture from history professor Lowell Satre on the recent publication of his book "Chocolate on Trial: Slavery, Politics and the Ethics of Business." Doors open at 6:30 with a request for a $3 donation.
Latino Heritage Day
CLEVELAND -- The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum will host the Latino Heritage Day Festival from noon to 4 p.m. today. Admission is free. Museum exhibits will remain open for regular admission prices. The day will include performances by Alexander, Chango, Dawee, One Love and Stealth BoMass.
In addition, the museum will officially celebrate Inductee Bill Pinkney's 80th birthday with a special performance by Bill Pinkney's Original Drifters. The event will include guest artists, a release of the CD & quot;Drifting Along for 52 Years, & quot; and a book signing of the biography "Drifters 1: Bill Pinkney."
Pinkney is the only surviving original member of The Drifters.
Astronomer's talk
PITTSBURGH -- Join internationally known astronomer, writer and painter Dr. William K. Hartmann Wednesday for an evening of discovery as he discusses his latest book, "The Grand Tour: A Traveler's Guide to the Solar System." Hartmann is a native Pittsburgher and winner of the first Carl Sagan Medal from the American Astronomical Society.
The Henry Buhl Jr. Planetarium and Carnegie Science Center will host the author for this exclusive lecture and book signing party at 7 p.m. Tickets are $25 and include a copy of Dr. Hartmann's latest book, co-authored by space artist Ron Miller. 'Over the River and Through the Woods'
When: Tuesday and Wednesday, by appointment, starting at 7 p.m.
Where: Weathervane Playhouse, 1301 Weathervane Lane, Akron.
Details: Need three women playing a 20-year-old and two 70- to 80-year-olds; and three men playing a 30-year-old, and two 70- to 80-year-olds. Readings will be from the script. Production runs Oct. 19-Nov. 6. All parts are volunteer

'Guys and Dolls'
When: 7-8 p.m. Monday. Arrive at 7 p.m. sharp.
Where: G.B. Community Theater, Ashtabula Arts Center.
Details: Readings will be from the script. Those who have never before auditioned for an arts center production should prepare a monologue of about 45 seconds to 2 minutes, maximum.
Show dates will be Oct. 29-30 and Nov. 4-6 and 10-13.
